Kanye “Ye” West has been facing significant backlash following alleged antisemitic remarks that he made in various interviews. His comments have cost him his longtime partnership with the fashion brand Balenciaga and have now also cost him his talent agency.
All Alone
CAA announced this month that it had ended its relationship with Ye following his alleged antisemitic remarks. CAA is just one of a few businesses to cut ties with the rapper over his comments. Other leading industry figures, including Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel, implored all companies that work with the rapper to cut ties immediately.
“Those who continue to do business with West are giving his misguided hate an audience,” Emanuel wrote in a recent opinion piece in the Financial Times. “There should be no tolerance anywhere for West’s anti-Semitism.”

Cut Off
Emanual also called for Apple Music and Spotify to stop streaming his music and for Parler not to go through with the sale after the right-wing company announced they were under contract to sell the platform to Ye.
Emanuel's position has drawn support from other colleagues. On Sunday, United Talent Agency Chief Executor Jeremy Zimmer sent a note to his staff encouraging them to “please support the boycott of Kanye West.”
“As a company we stand for a wide diversity of voices and ideas,” Zimmer wrote. “But we can’t support hate speech, bigotry or anti-semitism.”
Other Hollywood companies have decided to cut ties with Ye as well. On Monday, film and TV producer MRC announced that it would not be proceeding with the distribution of Ye's documentary.
“We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform,” MRC executives said in a statement. “The silence from leaders and corporations when it comes to Kanye or antisemitism in general is dismaying but not surprising. What is new and sad, is the fear Jews have about speaking out in their own defense.”
Even the White House has chimed in on Twitter regarding the incident and subsequent events.
.@POTUS ran to heal the soul of the nation after years of hate and division. As part of this healing, we need to call out antisemitism everywhere it rears its ugly head. These actions in LA are disgusting and should be condemned.https://t.co/6B3TpLRqiT

Ye's ex-wife Kim Kardashian called for an end to antisemitic rhetoric on Monday without directly calling out her ex-husband. “Hate speech is never OK or excusable,” the reality star said in a tweet. “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.”

Ye has remained in demand despite his close ties with right-wing politics and his online remarks about Pete Davidson. He recently made appearances with both conservative commentator Candace Owens and Fox News reporter Tucker Carlson.
He caused yet another controversy when a photo was posted of him and Candace Owens sporting “White Lives Matter” t-shirts at a fashion event.
